10 Tips to Make Your Bathroom Look Bigger

In a small bathroom we should have everything a big bathroom incorporates, but to reduce the sizes of the objects inside. It sounds simple, but sometimes it might be hard to get.

There are a number of ways to make your small bathroom seem bigger when you consider remodeling:

1. Paint

Paint your new small bathroom in light colors. Lighter colors on cause an optical illusion, the space will look wilder. Although people think will create this effect, in the end your bathroom will look like a cold hospital bathroom. It is better to try to choose a combination of warm colors. Try painting clouds on the ceiling - if successful, such design can really add much needed creativity and flare to your small bathroom.

2. Tiles or wallpaper

When you decide to use wallpaper on your bathroom walls make sure you use small patterns - you do not want a heavy design to overwhelm your bathroom space. You can also install a bathroom tile with a delicate pattern that will repeat itself on the floor. Decorative tiles bring lightness into your modern home. These tiles are full of charm and vitality.

3. Light

Play with the bathroom light fixtures - install heavy lighting or better yet, a skylight if you can. A bay window is ideal, of course, you can create additional space for storage by using its alcove.

4. Bathroom Mirrors

Place bathroom mirrors opposite each other if possible. This old space-creating trick should do wonders to your small bathroom; combined with lots of light, this will definitely make the space appear larger than it is. Also if you place a bathroom mirror against the bathroom window you will create an additional "bathroom window".

5. Reflective Surfaces

Choose bathroom cabinets and bathroom vanities with shiny, reflective surfaces; see if you can install a glass shower enclosure during your bathroom remodeling process or even install a full-length mirror inside or right outside your shower.

6. Bath Mats

Skip bathroom rugs or bathroom mats if possible or choose lightly-colored ones for your small bathroom. Do not over load it with towels - make sure only the necessary accessories will be kept in your new small bathroom.

7. Shelves

Focus on the horizontal parts of your bathroom. Use shelves in the corners of your bathtub. You can put there all your soaps, shampoo, hairs masks and bath salt that you use frequently. See if you can turn any unused vertical space for bathroom storage.

8. Use the space above your toilet

A very generous space is that above your toilet. You can put a tight cabinet above your toilet where you can deposit small stuff: cosmetics, brushes, and towels.

9. Use the space under your sink

I f you do not install a pedestal sink, then you can use the space to put a cabinet with many shelves under your sink. When you have a small bathroom give up to the idea of a pedestal sink and use this space at it's maximum potential. You will be surprised how many things you can crowd in there.

10. Change your toilet seat

Buy a toilet seat with a decorative design. A funny toilet seat will make your small bathroom look original.
